During the first marking period, students will read several short stories, and practice recognizing literary techniques in the stories.  They will also perform analyses of the plot and characters in the stories.  Students will complete their first first five-paragraph composition, which will be a personal narrative.  We will end the marking period by re-visiting the novel I Heard the Owl Call My Name.
