Sr. Regina Plunkett, IHM
Welcome to Bishop Shanahan High School! We are a co-ed, Catholic high school located in Downingtown, PA. Students thrive in this environment dedicated to academic rigor, robust student life, strong spiritual formation, and the nurturing of young adults to be “People of God; People for Others.”
There are many opportunities for Shanahan students to explore their passions and interests. DECA (business club), Respect Life Club, Shanaviews (school newspaper), Channel 2 Mornings News, and Forensics Team are just a few examples of the 42 clubs and activities, and 21 different sports teams. There is something for everyone at BSHS.
The student experience is uniquely designed for each individual, yet united by the commitment to Christ-Centered values. In addition to celebrating the Catholic faith through school-wide masses and the opportunity for confession, all are welcome to attend daily mass in the chapel and the exposition of the Most Blessed Sacrament each Friday. Students put their faith in action by participating in meaningful community service projects that address social issues. We are confident that the students and alumni of Bishop Shanahan High School make the world a better place.
Enrolling at Bishop Shanahan is a decision that will prepare young adults to be critical thinkers and moral stewards of a rapidly evolving world. We invite you to visit and witness for yourself the countless reasons Bishop Shanahan is the best investment one can make. Click here to schedule your visit today. Until then, may God bless you and your family.
God Bless You,

Welcome to Bishop Shanahan High School. It is my distinct honor and pleasure to serve as Shanahan's Principal.
My first priority as principal is to ensure that our school’s programs serve the mission of Catholic-Christian formation for all students. The tenets of our faith should imbue everything we do. At all times our students should be aware that they are a part of a Catholic school community that invites each of them to be faith-filled and to act accordingly.
Secondly, our school community engages in an intense pursuit of academic excellence. Using all the resources available to us, my colleagues and I provide our students with an academic program that is both rigorous and relevant, providing your children with the skills and knowledge necessary to become life-long learners.
Finally, BSHS provides the best extracurricular program possible. While I recognize it is “extra,” I have a strong belief that involvement in sports and activities reinforces and enhances a student’s educational experience. I encourage all our students to participate in the life of our school beyond the classroom. Here too, we continually evaluate our programs to ensure that they are the best they can possibly be.
For me, all of this happens as part of a framework that recognizes the parents as the primary educators of their children. Our role is to support and partner with you in the challenging but sublime task of helping our young people to become thoughtful, faith-filled individuals committed to living lives of value.
