Boys' & Girls' Track Update

Winter Track Update

The Bishop Shanahan sprinters competed at the beautiful new Ott Center on the University of
Pennsylvania campus for the first time, with the boys competing on Friday and the girls on
Saturday. The results were amazing: two school records, six performances in the top 3 all-time
at Shanahan, two performances among the top 20 in the state, and 14 personal bests from the
21 athletes who competed.

Sophomore Payton Nolan set school records in both of her events. She placed 6 th overall (out
of 80 competitors) in the 60, smashing her own school record with a time of 8.05 seconds to
make herself the 17 th fastest in PA so far this season. Payton followed that effort with another
school record in the 200. Her time of 26.66 betters her own mark set earlier this season.
Payton finished 11 th in the 200 out of 103 runners.

Freshman Sebastian Ruth continued the outstanding start to his high school career by crushing
the freshman school record for 400 meters with a time of 52.21 seconds. He is now ranked
PA#2 and US#6 for freshman at this distance – and this was his first attempt at the 400.
Juniors Aiden Civitella and Colin Cregan became the 2 nd and 3 rd fastest 60m runners in school
history with identical times of 7.21. The school record of 7.12 was set by Keegan Hughes in
2017.

Sophomore Lauren Serpentine ran the second fastest time in school history in the 60m hurdles
to make the finals in the event. Her time of 10.73 is just 0.30 seconds off the school record.

Most importantly, we are seeing big improvements across the entire roster. Sanhith Vandara
lopped 0.52 seconds off his 200 PR with a time of 25.53. Audrey Galvin took an impressive
0.96 seconds off her 200 PR and 0.30 seconds off her previous best at 60 meters. Ethan Katz
and Thomas Simpson were both 0.35 seconds faster than ever at 200. Matthew Parrent
chopped 0.22 seconds off his 60 PR. Osi Okafor (25.14) and Sarah O’Donnell (32.00) also
recorded 200 PRs and John Simpson’s 60 (8.65) was his best.
