Cross Country at States
Three members of the cross country team represented BSHS at the Pennsylvania State Championship Meet in Hershey on Saturday, November 2. They earned the right to participate in the meet by virtue of their performances at the District Championship Meet eight days earlier. Ava Esposito represented the girls’ team and Steven Todd and Owen Whitaker ran for the boys' team.
250 of the fastest runners from around the state toed the line in each race competing for medals awarded to each of the 25 top finishers. The State Cross Country Course at Hershey is a very hilly course, and not one where runners record personal bests, but this race is not about personal bests - it’s about competing against the state’s best runners. All three of our runners did a great job of it.
Steven Todd led the way for the Eagles with the highest finish at States in school history. His time of 16:14 was good for 3rd place. Owen Whitaker finished in 71st place with a time of 17:40 and Ava Esposito, competing in her first State Championship meet, finished in 213th with a time of 24:13.
Congratulations to Steven, Ava, and Owen on their amazing performances, and to both the boys' and girls' cross country teams on a fantastic season!
