Cross Country | Whippet Invitational
The boys' and girls' cross country teams stood out at the Whippet Invite at Downingtown West with many outstanding performances and personal bests achieved.
Our lady runners had an impressive day as Ava Esposito lead the charge with a very impressive time of 21:42 seconds earning a huge PR after battling injuries all last season. Julia Taylor ran a solid time of 22:46. Rounding out the varsity race were Katie Kolimago at 23:20, Teagan Welsh at 24:31, and Grace Topping at 25:16. After an intense week of workouts, these are some solid marks, and our Lady Eagles are primed to peak for the big races in the next few weeks.
Our JV ladies had solid performances as well and are showing solid improvement across the board. Competing were Lauren Calle at 26:53, Madelyne Egolf at 29:20, Megan Hart at 29:24, and Anna Stolz at 32:24.
Leading the way for the boys' team were Steven Todd and Owen Whitaker. Steven dashed to a first-place finish with a new PR of 15:34.4 seconds. Owen also earned some hardware with a solid 13th place finish with a PR of 16:33.90.
Rounding out the varsity race for the boys were Connor Todd with a very impressive time of 17:41.6, Logan Valenza with a new PR of 18:56.6, Patrick Mcree with a PR 19:19, sprinter turned XC runner Greg Palaia with a PR of 19:46.8 seconds, and Ben Leinhauser running his 2nd race of the week with a very impressive time of 19:55 seconds, cutting almost 1 minute off his Wednesday race.
The JV boys all competed and ran exceptionally well. Matthew Sliwka led the way cracking the 22 minute barrier for the first time with a very impressive 21:49 PR. Connor Topping and Alex Galvin weren’t far behind, running times of 22:11.9 and 22:41.9 respectively. Rounding out the rest of the JV competitors were Liam Welsh at 23:32, Joey Hart at 25:25, Dominic Santoni at 31:10, and Joseph Engelhardt at 33.33.
The entire coaching staff couldn’t be prouder of all our athletes. They are showing a very strong work ethic and exceptional team culture. We are looking forward to the future meets!
