The Varsity Eagles Blow Away Merion Mercy Academy by Nine Runs

The BSHS softball team asserted their will over Merion Mercy Academy on their way to a 14-5 victory last Tuesday afternoon.

The Eagles fired up the offense in the first inning. Allie Bretz hit into a fielder's choice, scoring one run and bringing in seven runs in the third inning. Shanahan's big bats in the inning were led by singles by Audrey Hudecki, Lorenza Arriagada Turrent, Leah Madanat, Hailey Shapiro, and Ashlyn Gunn.

Gunn was in the circle for the Eagles. The powerhouse went seven innings, allowing five runs on eight hits and striking out eight.

Bishop Shanahan Varsity Eagles totaled 17 hits.  Lexi Simmons, Alexa Bojko, Arriagada Turrent, Maddie Maher, Madanat, and Gunn each had multiple hits for Bishop Shanahan Varsity Eagles. Bojko and Simmons all had three hits to lead Eagles. The girls tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Maher led the way with two. The final cherry on top was a homer launched by Bretz in the seventh inning.
