Bishop Shanahan High School students are both athletes and scholars. Many of our student aspire to compete in collegiate sports, and often receive scholarships from colleges and universities. Our Athletic and College Counseling departments assist students and their families in navigating this process. Jessica Gorr '19

Congratulations to Jessica Gorr '19 who was named the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II national goalkeeper of the year! Gorr is the first West Chester University student-athlete named in the IWLCA's postseason individual honors since the organization began the awards program in 2009. 

Simmi Whitehill '22

Congratulations to Simmi Whitehill '22 for winning the Big 10 Regular Season Baseball Championship with the University of Maryland. Go Terps!

Mac Barry '18

Congratulations to Mac Barry '18 who was selected to the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame Hampshire Honor Society! The 2023 NFF Hampshire Honor Society is comprised of college football players from all divisions of the NCAA, NAIA, and sprint football who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college careers and who were starters or significant contributors throughout the 2022 season. Way to go, Mac!

Brandon Choi '22

Congratulations to Brandon Choi '22 on being named to Pennsylvania Western University Dean's List for the 2022 fall semester. Brandon currently studies at Penn West's California Campus and plays on their football team!

Over 3,500 Pennsylvania Western University students earned placement on the Dean's List. Degree-seeking undergraduate students who achieve high academic standards are identified in accordance with the following criteria: the students must earn a minimum semester GPA of 3.40, and the student must earn a minimum of 12 graded credits.

Paris Masaracchia '22

Congratulations to Paris Masaracchia, Class of 2022, who played in the Under Armour Senior All American Girls' Lacrosse game on ESPNU this past Saturday! Paris was selected as 1 of the 44 best players in the country. Check out the her highlights from the game at: https://youtu.be/HrmTzfIKDMU.

Jess Gorr '19

​Congratulations to Jess Gorr (women's lacrosse) who was named to the WCU Honor Squad! She is studying Computer Science and Applied Statistics.

The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) released its 2021-22 Academic awards. West Chester University was well represented as the Golden Rams were one of 398 programs overall and one of 62 Division II programs honored on the Academic Honor Squad. Additionally, West Chester placed four student-athletes on the honor roll in recognition of their individual efforts on the playing field and in the classroom.

For teams to be eligible for the honor squad, they must have at least a 3.2 GPA for the entirety of the academic year while student-athletes on the honor roll must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Doug Costin '16

Doug Costin signed a one year contract with the Pittsburg Steelers after playing two seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Way to go, Doug!
