There are many opportunities to visit Bishop Shanahan High School! Each year we host a fall and spring open house, a 7th grade visitation day, and opportunities to shadow current students! Click here to learn more. BSHS also hosts a variety of events that are open to the public including the fall musical, winter and spring concerts & art expos, Christmas craft show, and auction.
Do you have to be Catholic to go to BSHS?
Bishop Shanahan High School welcomes students to attend regardless of their religious background.
Where do students come from who attend BSHS?
Students at BSHS come from all over Chester County, PA. The following school districts provide busing to BSHS students: Coatesville, Downingtown, Great Valley, Owen J. Roberts, Phoenixville Area, Tredyffrin/Easttown, Twin Valley, Unionville-Chadsford, West Chester Area.Busing from Southern Chester County is supported by BSHS, a sponsor, and the BSHS families of Southern Chester County.

Some highlights from the Class of 2018 included Yale University, Bucknell University, Boston College, Boston University, Case Western Reserve University, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

The average enrollment per grade level at Bishop Shanahan is 275.
What courses will my Freshmen student take?
Freshmen students receive their course roster by mid-August. Classes typically include Theology I, English Language Arts I, Themes in World History, Algebra I or Algebra II, Conceptual Physics or Biology, World Language/Communication Skills, Related Arts/Introduction to Studio Art, and Information Technology I. Roster changes take place in late August.
How will my student fit in at Bishop Shanahan High School?
The BSHS community warmly welcomes all new students and their families! Each summer we hold a Freshmen Welcome Night for freshman students during which they can meet their classmates and come to know the school building better. Once freshman have had a few weeks to adjust to their new school, we hold a Clubs & Activities Fair in which they can pursue their passions and interests by becoming involved in one of our 42 clubs and activities.
What does BSHS mean by "People of God; People for Others?"
At BSHS, we challenge our students and all in our community to be socially responsive, ethical and accepting Christian people, who embrace a commitment to serving others as a result of their formation. Many of our classes, clubs and sports teams do community service projects. Each year our whole school community also participates in the Thanksgiving Food Drive, a Catholic Charities project, and Charity Wednesdays. Click here to learn more.
