Baccalaureate Masses

Congratulations to the BSHS Class of 2021 who celebrated the beautiful Baccalaureate Mass on Wednesday, June 9th at St. Joseph Parish in Downingtown. The Shanahan community was honored by the presence of The Most Reverend Nelson J. Perez, D.D. who was the main celebrant. The Archbishop shared important messages with the Class of 2021 to be grateful, to be hopeful, to be faithful, and to NEVER underestimate the power of the spirit of God moving in us, through us, and despite us. God bless you, soon-to-be graduates!!

Congratulations again to the newest graduates of Bishop
Shanahan High School, the Class of 2021! On Thursday, they prepared for graduation day by celebrating with senior yard signs and later at the Car Parade! Students and families decorated their cars and were cheered on by the faculty, staff, and administration as they drove through the car loop at BSHS. It was so much fun - nicely done, Class of 2021! |
Commencement Ceremony
Bishop Shanahan High School held its commencement exercises on Friday, June 11th at 10:00 AM in the BSHS auditorium, paying tribute to the Class of 2021. This year’s graduating class includes 258 students, all of whom were accepted to four-year colleges including the University of Notre Dame, Drexel University, Rochester Institute of Technology, and Old Dominion University. The class also received more than $41,000,000 in total college scholarships, of which 30 were full tuition scholarships, and 92 were presidential scholarships. Sister Maureen Lawrence McDermott, IHM, Ph.D., the Chief Academic Officer and Superintendent of Secondary Schools, presided over the graduation ceremony.
John C. Porter, who will be attending the University of South Carolina, was the valedictorian. Cara Wankmiller, who will be attending the University of Notre Dame, was the salutatorian. During his speech, John encouraged his classmates, “You have shown resilience and determination in maintaining a sense of fraternity and fellowship this year. You have made your mark in these halls and I cannot wait to see what you accomplish in the future.”
Also at the commencement exercises, the Shanahan Medal was presented to Bishop Shanahan High School faculty, staff, and administration. This medal is awarded annually to a person or group of persons whose service, commitment, and dedication to Catholic education deserve recognition and gratitude.
