Shanahan AP American Government Students Travel to Philadelphia

Students from the AP American Government and Politics class recently had the opportunity to put their classroom learning into action during a trip to Philadelphia. Bishop Shanahan was invited to meet with Representative White prior to a press conference on the Federal Tax Credit Scholarship Program. Students also met with Peter Murphy from Invest in Education.

Both discussions focused on how legislation can create meaningful change and gave students the opportunity to ask thoughtful questions about the legislative process. It was a valuable hands-on experience that brought their coursework to life.

After the press conference, students continued their authentic Philadelphia experience with a stop at Reading Terminal Market. To conclude the day, they returned to school and wrote thank-you notes to those involved, expressing how impactful the experience was for them.
