Thanksgiving Food Drive

Thanksgiving Food Drive

Each November, the BSHS community comes together in a special way to organize a Thanksgiving Food Drive to provide for those in need in our local communities.

This initiative allows us to live out our school’s guiding principle in a special way. As we give thanks to God for the many blessings He has bestowed upon us as People of God, we can be mindful of the ways in which we can serve those in need by being People for Others. Together, let us collaborate so that those who may be struggling will have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner this year.

The Thanksgiving Food Drive began on Monday, November 5, earlier this week. We are asking for your assistance in providing the following essential items so that local families in need are able to enjoy a delicious, traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Each theology class has been assigned a non-perishable food item to collect throughout the next two weeks:

  • Mashed Potatoes - Mrs. Kilpatrick
  • Stuffing - Mr. Aquilante (Juniors)
  • Mac & Cheese - Deacon Mark (Juniors)
  • Canned Yams - Sister Brenda
  • Green Beans - Ms. Kolenda
  • Corn - Mr. Thompson
  • Canned Turkey Gravy - Mr. Aquilante (Freshmen) & Deacon Mark (Seniors)
  • Cranberry Sauce - Father Monica & Sister Marianne

The Faith in Action program and the Community Service Corps are conducting the annual BSHS Thanksgiving Food Drive. Last year, Shanahan students were able to provide an entire Thanksgiving meal (two baskets full) to many families from our local partner parishes.

This year, we are opening up this effort to the wider Shanahan community. You can donate a turkey, pie, and dinner rolls through a simple online donation of $20.
