Our Lady of Guadalupe Scholarship for Excellence in Art

Bishop Shanahan is pleased to offer The Our Lady of Guadalupe Scholarship to applicants for the Class of 2028 who have demonstrated excellence in visual art. Scholarships are renewable over four years dependent upon maintaining 90% quarter average and an exemplary discipline record. Scholarship recipients must participate in related clubs and take 3 studio art courses over 4 years of high school.

APPLICATION PROCESS

  • Students must have a completed admissions application for Bishop Shanahan High School on file via SchoolAdmin.
     

  • A FACTS application must be submitted by the family of any student applying for a scholarship. More information about applying for FACTS can be found on the Admissions page of the Shanahan website.
     

  • Students applying for this scholarship must submit pictures of the following pieces of artwork to be considered for this scholarship:

    • Still life in color: a painting or drawing of an arrangement of objects.

    • Self Portrait: drawn in pencil.

    • Your choice of any art piece you have created.
       

  • Students applying for this scholarship must submit a one-page essay answering the following questions. Essays must be double-spaced, and written in Times New Roman 12-point font. Essays may be proofread by an adult, but the essay must be the work of the student. Please do not include a name on the essay page. 

    • What art classes have you taken in elementary school and middle school? Include any workshops, private lessons, camps, etc. 

    • Name the media you have worked with and your favorite subjects for your artwork. (What do you use to create art? What do you like to draw, paint, etc.?)

    • Do any of your relatives have talents or careers in art?

    • Who are your favorite artists? 

    • What museums have you visited?

Please submit your application and cover page to scholarships@shanahan.org by November 30, 2023. Scholarship recipients will be notified in January.
