Saint Katharine Drexel Scholarship for Commitment to Community Service

Bishop Shanahan is pleased to offer The St. Katharine Drexel Scholarship to applicants for the Class of 2028 who have shown a commitment to the Community Service. Scholarships are renewable over four years dependent upon maintaining 90% quarter average, an exemplary discipline record and continued participation in at least one of the required clubs or activities related to service throughout the four years of high school.

APPLICATION PROCESS

  • Students must have a completed admissions application for Bishop Shanahan High School on file via SchoolAdmin.
     

  • A FACTS application must be submitted by the family of any student applying for a scholarship. More information about applying for FACTS can be found on the Admissions page of the Shanahan website.
     

  • Students applying for this scholarship must submit a one-page essay answering one of the following prompts. Essays must be double-spaced, and written in Times New Roman 12-point font. Essays may be proofread by an adult, but the essay must be the work of the student. Please do not include a name on the essay page. 

    • Write about a time you performed an act of service for another person. What did you learn from this experience? 

    • What historical figure famous for helping others do you admire? Why? 

    • If asked to plan a service project at Shanahan, what would the mission be? Who would you serve and why? What would you do?
       

  • Applicants for this scholarship must have a letter of recommendation sent on their behalf. Letters may be sent directly to scholarships@shanahan.org by a pastor, teacher, mentor or other influential adult that is not a member of the applicant’s family.


Please submit your application and cover page (below) to scholarships@shanahan.org by November 30, 2023. Scholarship recipients will be notified in January.
