- National Merit Scholars -
At Bishop Shanahan High School, we are honored to have many students named as National Merit Scholars each and every year! National Merit Scholars are selected based on their excellent PSAT scores out of 1.5 million high school juniors from around the country. 50,000 participants receive recognition as Commended Students in the National Merit Scholarship Program annually. Only 16,000 students are selected to be national Semi-finalists. Some 15,000 are named as national Finalists.
The mission of National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) is to recognize and honor the academically talented students of the United States. NMSC accomplishes its mission by conducting nationwide academic scholarship programs.
