Advanced Placement
At Bishop Shanahan High School, we offer 21 Advanced Placement courses. AP exams are taken in May, and based on the results of these tests, many students receive college credit. For the past five years, BSHS students have performed well above both the Pennsylvania and global Averages. BSHS also has more AP students than the PA and global averages.
University Credit
Bishop Shanahan High School offers unique learning opportunities for 11th and 12th grade students as a means of providing them with the most extensive list of course options. Our partnerships with Immaculata University and Neumann University allow students to take college courses and to receive dual credit for both BSHS and the partner university. These courses are taught by a professor on Shanahan's campus.
Technical College High School
Bishop Shanahan High School partners with the Chester County Technical College High School (TCHS), where our 11th and 12th grade students can begin an exciting career in a program of their choice, all while earning the elective credits needed to fulfill BSHS's graduation requirements.
Allied Health Program & Teacher Leadership Academy
Bishop Shanahan High School partners with The Allied Health Science Program and the Teacher Leadership Academy run through the Chester County Technical College High School. These prestigious programs are a highly regarded option for those considering a career in the medical or teaching professions.
STEM
At BSHS, we place great importance on S.T.E.M. specific courses, as well as on our established Science, Technology and Mathematics departments. We design our S.T.E.M. courses to help students develop a set of thinking, reasoning, teamwork, and investigative and creative skills needed in our increasingly technological world.
Arrupe Virtual Learning Institute
Bishop Shanahan High School partners with the Arrupe Virtual Learning Institute (AVLI). AVLI provides online and blended student coursework that complements BSHS's existing instructional programs. Students receive quality learning experiences that help them mature as thoughtful, independent learners.
Diocesan Scholars
Twelve Catholic colleges in the Philadelphia area, in cooperation with the Secondary School System of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, sponsor the Diocesan Scholars Program.
