Did you know that you can redirect your 2022 taxes to BSHS to support tuition assistance?
The Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) and Special Purpose Entity (SPE) programs of Pennsylvania are great ways to assist BSHS families in need. This is the easiest way to tell Harrisburg how to use your tax dollars AND support Shanahan students! If you owe more that $1,000 to Pennsylvania each year, please consider the Tax Credit Program!
The process is easy! For this school year, BSHS had more than $484K to award in tuition assistance because people like you redirected 2021 PA taxes to Shanahan. Contact us now so that your 2022 taxes can be used to support Shanahan students next year. Call 610-343-6255 or email tkyle@shanahan.org.

How Does It Work?
You can receive up to a 90% tax credit against personal PA state tax liability by making a gift to Shanahan through either BLOCS or
The Foundation for Catholic Education. Any individual or company who wishes to take advantage of this tax-credit program may become a member of a Scholarship LLC (“LLC”). These special purpose entities (or SPE’s), exist for the sole purpose of participating in the tax credit program supporting the school(s) of your choice.

How Do I Join?
Step 1: To join, an individual or company makes a 2-year commitment, (minimum of $1,000 per year). Completing the below pledge form is the first step.
Step 2: Bishop Shanahan will connect you with either BLOCS or The Foundation for Catholic Education to include you as a SPE member based on availability.
Step 3: After being approved by the state, you will be notified that your Year 1 contribution must be received by a specific date. Not to worry….BLOCS and The Foundation for Catholic Education will manage the communication between you and Harrisburg. They make the process very easy, and Shanahan is also always here to help!
Step 4: The LLC will then receive tax credits equal to 90% of the donation amount. Your 90% credit will be distributed to you via K-1 and are then applied to your PA tax liability for the tax year in which the donation was made. *If your PA state tax has been withheld all year long as payroll deduction, you will be refunded after you file your taxes.
Step 5: Your second (or Year 2) contribution will be made approximately one year following the first payment date.
If you choose Bishop Shanahan to be the recipient of your tax credit contribution, BSHS will be notified by either BLOCS or the Foundation for Catholic Education and then 100% of your contribution will be awarded to a Shanahan family in need of tuition assistance for the following school year. Click HERE to see how families qualifies to receive this tax credit funding. During the current school year, nearly $500,000 has been awarded to families in need through the tax credit program. This is funding generated from people like you who redirected their PA tax liability from Harrisburg to Bishop Shanahan High School.

“Tricia and I are excited to be participating in the BLOCS SPE Tax Credit Program this year. We were pleasantly surprised at just how easy it was to enroll. This certainly makes giving back easy and what a great way to help students who want a Catholic Education. You guys certainly made this easy!”
