Future Eagle Checklist

We know you want to prepare for your first days at BSHS. This checklist will help you to keep on track with the major steps in this process.

1. Submit your online registration before January 6, 2023 to receive the Early Registration Discount pricing.

2. Attend the Future Eagle Day. Invitation to follow.

3. Review pre-orientation materials. Later in the spring, you will receive the Freshman Packet that contains everything you need to know to get ready for the start of school. Included in this packet are important dates and information about Chromebooks, the BSHS uniform, summer reading, fall sports and auditions for the musical.

4. Review the guidelines here and purchase a Chromebook. In the summer, freshman and transfer families will receive via email a Sign-Up Genius link for appointments to get your child's Chromebook configured in late August 2023.

5. Optional - Attend a reading test on the Summer Reading books. Check the Freshman Packet for your designated time. You do not need to sign up beforehand and may choose to take one, two, or all three tests before the school year begins.

6. Receive and review your course roster by mid-August.

7. Connect with your classmates at Freshman Welcome Night! Stay tuned for details!

9th Grade Placement

Level placement for incoming ninth grade students is determined through a careful review of students’ academic transcripts, standardized test scores, and for students coming from our partner schools, recommendations from eighth grade math teachers. If it is determined that a student requires additional testing for proper placement, the Office for Academic Affairs will reach out to schedule the appropriate tests. Student rosters are shared with families in mid-August. If at that time parents/guardians have questions or concerns about a student’s placement, they will have the opportunity to sign up for an appointment with the Assistant Principal for Academic Affairs.

Please note a student’s level placement is not permanent. Ninth grade students placed in the College Prep (CP) level who thrive and express an aptitude and desire to succeed at the Honors (H) level will have the opportunity to change levels during the course selection process for the next academic year.
